Malka Aboriginal Art Prize

The Malka Art Prize was initiated by the late Mr Marvin McKenzie Senior, whose vision was to have an Aboriginal art show which ensured the Aboriginal community would have a space to showcase their work. 'Malka' is a word used by a number of Aboriginal language groups within the Port Augusta region, meaning mark or painting.

The 2022 Malka Art Prize will be exhibited in the Yarta Purtli Art Gallery at 6 Beauchamp Lane, Port Augusta until 23 July 2022

Artwork will be auctioned at an Award Presentation and auction held on Thursday 23 June 2022.  Any artwork purchased at auction will remain in the exhibition until 23 July 2022 and can be collected on 25 or 26 July.

Anyone interested in bidding for any of the artwork are required to register as a bidder by completing the bidder registration form (link), by contacting the Yarta Purtli Art Gallery via Turn on Javascript! or phone 8641 9100.

Anyone who cannot attend the auction in person is invited to place a pre-auction bid by emailing Turn on Javascript!, stating their name, bidder registration number, the artist’s name, catalogue number and a maximum bid by 5pm 22 June 2022.
